Meet The Team
Shade Group Inc is an outdoor construction, landscaping, excavation and professional services firm, founded on the concept of providing top notch service to clients throughout the Ottawa Valley.
Alan has spent the past 17 years working in the construction field. A brief stint in heritage masonry led him to pursue work in the general contracting field. From there, he moved up the ladder, and gained knowledge both in constructing and managing projects of various sizes. While working as a general contractor Alan discovered his true passion was in outdoor construction projects - particularly those that make use of heavy machinery.
Outdoor construction services led by Alan, have a strong focus on earthworks, retaining wall construction, and demolition projects. If the project involves moving and placing soil, gravel, or large stones, Alan and his crew are well-equipped to handle it. The heavy equipment Alan and his crew run also makes short work of tackling demolition jobs.
Alan’s sister Monica joined the Shade Group team in 2021 and comes from over a decade of experience in the engineering consulting industry. Her speciality is in drainage and water resources management, specializing in rural properties and projects. Monica prides herself on finding grading and drainage solutions for new and existing properties that focus on optimal use of the property. Designs prepared by Monica offer not just drainage solutions, but solutions that take into consideration long term maintenance requirements like lawn mowing. Grading plans are prepared in consultation with our construction team, so any potential conflicts for construction can be highlighted. Monica is a registered Professional Engineer and has joined the Shade Group team to help Alan manage the construction side while offering civil engineering services that compliment Alan’s work.
When it comes to drainage solutions, Monica designs them, Alan can build them. What sets us apart from the competition is that our team works together on every project. Alan, with his extensive construction experience, consults on every design project, providing input on feasibility and cost effectiveness of the design. This approach allows us to ensure our design solutions are the best choice for your property – and can be built and maintained!
Heather has spent the past 20 years working in a variety of roles that all involve work with the natural landscape. The first half of her career was spent with Ontario Parks, teaching visitors about the outdoors. More recently, she has been the driving force behind the environmental professional services for Shade Group, working as a consulting biologist for various municipalities and private clients. Heather specializes in preparing Environmental Impact Studies (EIS), Species at Risk Assessments, and various other environmental studies often required for new development (subdivisions or commercial site plans) or severances.
